Apple Likes Our New Tutor.com App For Students
We’re lucky to have an amazing group of developers who are passionate about the tutoring we deliver. They are always looking for ways to improve the student experience. When mobile apps began to gain in popularity, our team started to discuss what we could offer students that would bring more value to the tutoring experience. What could we give students that would make it even easier and more convenient to get the help they need to get their homework done?
The answers are still coming in, but as of this week, the team’s first effort is already turning heads – especially those over at the Apple App Store. Our office was hopping last week after Russ Greenspan, our VP of Technology and Strategy received a phone call from the folks over at Apple. After confirming it wasn’t a prank call, he pulled together the resources they asked for and then waited to see what would come next.
Just a few days after launching, the Tutor.com app for iPhone or iPod touch is in the New and Noteworthy section, has a 4 out of 5 rating and one reviewer commented “This app is great! So good for a quick question. Easy to understand too.”
Upload Pictures to Your Locker, Browse Resources and Review Previous Sessions
Not bad for a freshman effort that the tech team had considered R&D with the goal of testing their mobile app skills. So what does this app do? Go to www.tutor.com/iphone to check out all the features but here’s a quick overview:
- •Take pictures of homework problems you’d like to work on with your tutor, and upload them to your online locker at www.tutor.com.
- •Search or browse our online library of thousands of free online homework resources.
- •Review your previous online tutoring sessions on your iPhone or iPod Touch
For an encore, the tech team is back in development mode and plans to release an upgrade this fall that will enable students to connect directly to a subject-qualified tutor for a one-to-one learning session 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, right from their iPhone or iPod Touch. Our team is also looking at developing apps that would be specific to our military users and our library users so stay tuned.
What else can we do to make your learning experience better with Tutor.com?
