After graduating from Villanova University with a MA in Mathematics, Christina R. had one goal in mind: help as many students as she can. With a passion for both math and teaching, Christina is doing just that. Tell us a little about yourself.
Besides tutoring on Tutor.com, I also work as a mid-level math instructor for a pre-college program at Johns Hopkins University. I live in Pennsylvania with my husband, but we’re planning a move to Maine. We got married there last year and fell in love with the area (that’s us at our rehearsal dinner)!
How did you find out about Tutor.com?
I was looking for a flexible part time job that would also allow me to use my math skills. Online tutoring seemed like a perfect match and after some research, I found Tutor.com to be the best option! I admired the live, on-demand, and personalized service being offered to students all over the globe.
Why do you enjoy tutoring with Tutor.com?
In particular, it’s great to connect with a student who is working really hard to gain a better understanding of a math concept. A student who needs just the right nudge to get to the next level. It’s rewarding when I’m able to identify and address a student’s unique needs, help lessen their math anxieties, and lead them to that breakthrough moment. It’s absolutely inspiring when a student leaves a session with the confidence to solve a similar problem on their own.
What do you do for fun?
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy painting, reading, and traveling. My husband and I recently went to Paris for our honeymoon and we can’t wait to go back!
